Athletes React To Trump’s Recent Comments

The President made some divisive remarks at a Luther Strange campaign rally in Alabama yesterday, criticizing former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players for taking a knee on the sidelines during the National Anthem. Even going so far as to call them “sons of bitches”.

Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors  has been outspoken about his distain for the President. Most recently at Golden State Warriors media where Curry told the members of the media he “didn’t really want to go (to the White House)”.

He then went on to criticize the NFL players on Twitter:

The sports world responded with a tidal wave of backlash.

The NFL released an official statement:

The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture.  There is no better example than the amazing response from our clubs and players to the terrible natural disasters we’ve experienced over the last month.  Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.
