Your “Make America Great Again” Hat is Paying For Trump’s Legal Fees

You’ve seen them. Red hats with white letters. “Make America Great Again” they say.

For the first time in U.S. history, a sitting president is using campaign funds to pay for his personal legal defense in the Russia investigation.

Since day one of his presidency, Trump has been raising money for his re-election campaign in 2020 (two years earlier than any previous president). According to the FEC, Donald J. Trump for President Inc has almost $12 million at its disposal. Almost half a million dollars of that money has been used to pay the legal defense fees for Trump and the rest of his family.

Specifically, the RNC has disclosed that it has paid out over $230,000 to pay for the President’s lawyers Jay Sekulow and John Dowd.

In addition, the RNC has paid $190,000 in Donald Trump Jr.’s fees paid to the firm of Williams & Jensen.

Trump can use campaign funds to pay for expenses related to the Russian campaign investigation, – however, isn’t this President a billionaire? The RNC is scheduled to disclose its spending from the month of August on Wednesday and the Trump campaign is due to disclose on Oct. 15.
